Thanks Ryan looks like they have some really cool things happening. Would be nice to have folks like that a little closer to me.

We have a bit more done to the car now. Installing the fuel tanks took some ingenuity. We cut out the rear section of the sill area and made a hatch that could be mounted back in place after the tanks are in. The tanks are held in place with a rubber covered threaded strap front and rear. They...

    Build Log SCF/RCR Jaguar XJ13

Hi Chuck Progress is the key now. The project has been delayed way to long but I am determined. I am hoping it will move at a reasonable pace now. I will be posting updates routinely. This thing has become way more complex than I had ever envisioned but I expect that much more rewarding in the end.

We will be adding mufflers at the end of the line to make for an acceptable street car. I have been told by another builder that without mufflers it is VERY loud and the police will be on me immediately. We can's have that for just puttering around. Of course that should be expected when I am...

I have a 1994 XJS coupe with a stock 6.0 HE engine with 11.5:1 CR and it runs superbly on pump gas. Of course it was built to run on available fuel as it is factory un-modified. I usually use 93 premium which is recommended in the manual but I am sure it would not have an issue on 87 on...

Yes we will be running 13:1 CR. The Jaguar V12 used two different head designs. The earlier one called the Flat Head or Pre-HE used a bowel shaped piston for the combustion chamber. The Pre HE design allows the use of larger valves so it is often considered the only one to use to really stretch...

I am finally back on the project. The last couple of years have been filled with distractions. I though I was moving forward in late 2013, then came 2014. An amazing series of disastrous events for me and my family made it the worst year in my lifetime. Even with all the sadness and problems...

    RCR D type thread

Chuck That engine would do more than just look good in an RCR D type. I am thinking about the sound and the kick!

Hi Fran Of course I read the section on replicas in the book first. They do have photos of the car Trevor (TWR) built from your RCR kit and he did a super job with it. Of course to say buying one from him as a budget XJ13 replica would indicate one has quite the budget for toys. Peter did...

    Jag XJ13

Neville, I just got my XJ13 books. I bought two (one regular edition and one special leather bound) and the book is fantastic. Full of great information and invaluable for anyone considering a replica. I was glad the extra special edition with part of the original car was instantly sold out as I...

You may be correct as I am no Lambo expert. I guess a safe redline depends on how brave, rich, or stupid one is. I read some where that Bizzarini claimed with some upgrade you could turn 11k rpm Yikes. I would be more inclined to believe the 8k number especially for a stock motor which is still...

    Jag XJ13

Alan My intention is to be as true to the original as possible but I believe there is certianly some license to change a few thing to my taste. One big thing to consider that often does not apply to other replicas is this: Since only one original car was built anyone that knows what it is will...

Neville I was thinking we need to get Peter to make a couple more wheels but he could probably comand a budget busting price. I do agree your new home for his sprite wheel would certianly be the most appropriate.

Remember this is a rolling kit so you need to add engine, transaxel, tires, exhaust, clutch, flywheel, axels, starter,ECU,fuel and brake lines, injectors, swirl pot, fuel pump(s)lighting and interior. If you went with all used parts it could be economical but would that really suit this car. On the engine...

Yes it is a bit of an unusual concept but the point would be to try to create a more accurate look. Performance and sound would also be excellent. The lambo motor as I understand can rev like anything. Not sure of the redline offhand but it has 5 figures. The down side of this engine with the...

If you take an RCR kit add about 800 hours work plus $60k in parts you will not be able to tell the difference at all. If you skip the fancy intakes you can subtract about 30k from the parts. I will probably be somewhere in the middle when I get done.

    Look Familiar?

OH looks like I stirred up a little controversy.:lipsrsealed: I am not even going to chime in on that. My drag racing buddy with a 1600HP Camaro thinks the electric machines are on the march and will over take all the dragsters eventualy (no prediction on when that will be). It is fun to...
