    Proper ZF gear lube

Although I come from the Miata world, we too have trans oil problems. A GL5 is just too slippery for the synchros to work. We use a synthetic Motorcraft GL4, that came from Germany. It works really well, but costs about $20.00 per Qt.

    RCR40 Adventure Begins

Great deal, I'm about two years out. Would like to be there when you start your build. Oh and when you finish it as well.

Build costs for high rev 331

I've looked a the line of BLUEPRINT ENGINES from Jegs. A 331 with carb and distribitor runs ~ 6,000.00, makes ~ 375 TQ and HP. To me that should be plenty, and as of yet I've not heard anything bad about them.

    arrived in Texas!!!!!

Welcome to Texas. Now take 35S to New braunfels, take 46 to Hiway 16, turn right and go to Medina, Turn left on RR337 (ranch road) and go to Leakey. You have found one of the roads called The Three Sisters, which are RR335,336, and 337 IIRC. Thes are the hilly and curvy roads in Texas.

    Exhaust design calculator

In the 70s, Webber Cams had a simular if not the same formula. I used it building a 750cc Norton, tuned for 6000rpms. It ran like a scalded cat. When you shifted into 4th gear the front tire would still skirt the ground.

    Condenser location

Bob, you bring up some good points. On my 03 Dodge PU the condensor is mounted to the side of radiator, and has its own fan. I would suspect that this helps the efficiency at low speeds, when air flow is marginal.

I think this is my second time reading all of your build. Nice job, Chris

    Chuck and Ryan's RCR Build

As I plan and research for an RCR build in two years, I read and skip over the build threads from time to time. I have over the past three days read your entire thread. This has been very informative and the detail taken in your build is great. Thanks, David

    P1001

Andrew, I too am glad you've continued to post this thread, as I have enjoyed very much reading it. To the few that bash it as to if it is original or whatever, stick it where sun doesn't shine. David

    Planning my build

I have a Monster Miata ( 90 5.O HO ), with T5 and 3.27 Traction-Loc. Cruiseing @ 60mph, its only turning ~1800rpms. So the taller tires on the GT40 coupled with a 3.55 may well be ~2000rpm. Great for MPG, not much power though at that low of rpm. I've learned a long time ago, just because you...

    Planning my build

I ran a 68 Mustang with built 289 for years. I had a close ratio ( 2.20 ) 1st with 3.55s, it worked well. Well except 3000 rpm @ 60mph, sucked down the interstate. A ll my cars have a limited slip, Trac-Loc, Torsen, or some type of non open rear. Being that the 5th gear ratio is .61, having a...

    Planning my build

Although some of this might be better suited for the transaxle section, I'll post it here. I plan on useing a crate 331 from Blueprint engines, rated @ 375 with 390 Tq. The roller cam they use is on 112* seperation, so not very lumpy sounding. This is a carbed engine and that is fine with me...

    Tornado GT40 in Texas

I too like the plate mount, not so happy with the 66GT40 though. On the other hand I'm still two years out on my build and MY66GT40 should work. I'm not sure how many letters we can have on a plate though.

    Original 40's steering wheel emblem

As I've done very little research, I've no clue what color the originals were. I do know my list of venders just went down one though.

    Griffin trans axles

I think this will be my gear box choice, and its only ~ 170 miles to Castroville.
