    Front brakes ?

Granada brakes will not stop this car twice. They will overheat on the first corner. I have a Willwood setup fron Rally Design, 32mm vented back and front and they just fit inside 15" wheels provided that motorcycle balance weights are used.

    Wheels Air Pressure?

26 front, 24 rear, and then drive until you see how the tyres wear. There's a lot of tyre and not much weight, so high pressures are not required.

Dual Tank Plumbing Advice and Considerations

Hello Pasha, You will most definitely need a separate fuel filter for each tank. My 5 litre 350hp GT40 has been running for 22 years with this setup: Plumbing: Tank---filter---Facet redtop---nonreturn valve--filter king filter/regulator--teepiece with fuel pressure guage port--Holley 670...

    Weather Striping

I don't know the RCR, but on my KVA I weatherstripped the entire door during the 2016 weght-adding rebuild, top, sides and bottom. Also the front clip top edge and the rear top and sides. No more water ! Tony.

    Sound deadening or not?

Hi Daniel, I ran for years with no insulation and noise-cancelling headphones. After years of being roasted, on the 2016 rebuild, I padded the bulkhead and driver's seat to reduce heat, but fitting the aircon was the best solution ! I also fitted silencers for the first time. After that, the...

Dual Tank Plumbing Advice and Considerations

Never had a problem with 2x Facet red tops. Run on one pump on the road and run both when on the track. 302 with 340bhp. Tank-filter- pump (down low)- non return valve- filter king--teepiece-pressure guage-Holley 670cfm.

    Fuel Pressure

I have the same set-up, and have run my street GT40 for 30 years at 7 psi. I run both left and right pumps when on-track. 350 bhp and Holley 670 cfm. Never had short fuel delivery. As stated, pay particular attention to float level set-up, and idle set-up. If you have nylon sight-hole plugs...

    KVA rear window....Help...!!

Hi, Andy Sheldon from Tornado Sports Cars supplied me with his TS40 rear screen. It was a reasonable fit into the 1992 KVA MK1 rear clip. It is bonded-in. Once the rubber cover strip has been bonded onto the glass edge, it has the appearance of a perfect fit. I destroyed 2 plastic back screens...

    Radiator bleed with EWP

Hi Jason, It sounds to me that your engineering friend is right. Have a look at my response to the earlier post 'Overheating'. I have found that the radiator to header tank bleed doesn't flow on my GT40, and I have installed a static bleed to the radiator. Bottom line, just try it and see...

    Overheating....

Shoot me down if you want... I've never had a cooling issue since I fitted a 7 litre header tank, routed the heater outlet on top of the inlet manifold, which is the engines highest point, to the top of the header tank, the header tank bottom outlet to the heater return on the water pump. Any...

Show me your fuel pumps please! - Carb fed engines

I have a pair of Facet red-tops that can deliver 7psi running through a pair of Malpassi regulator Filters at 7psi. I run both pumps when the engine needs it, and have never had a problem in 15,000 miles. Holley 670 cfm, 350 bhp 302. This works for me, the pumps are level with the fuel tanks.

    Headlight Options

Every so often, Hillman Hunter rectangular headlamps appear on eBay. They are the same as the HC Viva unit. Happy hunting, Tony.

get the air out of brakes.

I had to do 'extreme bleeding' once when I first built my GT40. A 1-litre can of fluid was connected to the master cylinder. The can was pressurised to 3psi and then the nipples were opened one by one, starting with the furthest. The slave cylinders were primed off the car first, to get as much...

    Switching to Electronic Ignition

Marcus, There is no such thing as a slow V8, so you will enjoy your GT40 on the road without spending a fortune on power upgrades at this stage. Reliability is much more important for what you are planning. Tony.

    Braided Hoses Throughout!!

Nick, The WRC builder suggested all braided at the time of my first GT40 build. It turned out to be wrong for this car, the pedal was as spongey as... I scrapped it all and went for solid, and fixed the problem, and no, it wasn't air in the lines ! Tony.

    Switching to Electronic Ignition

Assuming the distributor bearings are not worn, then it will be worth buying a contactless adapter kit. Mallory/MSD make a kit, but you'll need to make sure of the distributor model number before buying a kit. Lumenition also sell a kit I believe. Consider buying a new distributor with...
