1985 Toleman F1

This car hasn't seen a race track in a long time, and likely never will again. Stripped of its engine & tranny guts (though the block & housing are still there), it has become a work of art on the wall of my neighbor's house.

The car has no chassis tag, but we believe it to be TG185-03, which was driven by Teo Fabi and sat on the pole of the German GP in 85. Apparently this car was used by Benetton as a display car. Although it has BMW badges and is painted in 1986 colors, the engine block is a Hart 415T. The nose also identifies it as a 1985 car, and the digits 03 are found painted in a couple of places on the inside of the bodywork.

The chassis was designed by Rory Byrne, currently Ferarri's chief designer. It was the first carbon fiber chassis he designed.
