Assuming this is correct from the photo....
Part number: C8OE-6015-A
Date code: 7E17
Part number (first 4 characters)
1st position (decade)
B=1950-1959
C=1960-1968
D=1970-1979
etc.
so its a sixty's block, C
2nd position (Year of decade)
8=1968
3rd position (car Line)
O=Fairlane, Torino
4th position (Engineering group)
A=Chassis
B=Body
E=Engine
So its part of the engine..... ;-)
next set of 4 digits 6015 is the part number
...and the final character is the change level for the part in this case A.
The number above it is the date code 7E17
Year Month Day
7 E 17
Both part numbers are cast in the block which means it was cast on the 17th of May 1967.
The C8OE-A (casting number 6015) was a 302ci 1968-1969 6 bolt bellhousing and 2 bolt mains.
There might be a stamped number on it which would require me to dig out my Ford Parts Interchange book again (engine assembly date).
Apart from that.... haven't a clue what it is.....
