I disagree. It was Germans who made it and a German who posted it.. :)

(EDIT: Apologies Mike - just spotted the double negative. Very crafty)

I like the new German humour.

When I was younger, they used to laugh very loudly at jokes about Friesland.

Example 1:

Q: Why do East Frisians take a stone and a box of matches to bed?
A: They turn the light off using the stone and light a match to see if they've actually hit the light!

Example 2.

A woman was in bed with her lover and had just told him
how stupid her East Frisian husband was when the door was
thrown open and there stood her husband. He glared at her
lover and bellowed, "What are you doing?" "There", said the
wife, "didn't I tell you he was stupid?"

Example 3:

A North Frisian had no idea his wife was having an affair, so he was mad with grief when coming home early one day he surprised her and her lover in the act.

He grabbed a pistol and pointedit at his head, which made his wife burst out
laughing.

"What do you think you're laughing at," he cried, "you're next.!

Any of these jokes would have had the average German rolling in the aisles 30+ years ago, so I think they have made fantastic progress... :)

These kind of jokes were endless in number. I used to attend "Trade Missions" to West Germany sponsored by the then British Board of Trade. The Germans were all very jolly and drank loads of beer. When the joke telling started, we quickly had to learn to laugh very politely and just loud enough to avert WWIII

Marcus sends me loads of material - and to be honest, some of his stuff is so drily observed I am not so sure he is German at all!

Salut!
