Ok so in my excitement I ordered two of these but when they arrived I realised that the gap between the pipes was far too big (I should have checked first) anyway I might still be able to use them I'm thinking to cut out the middle bit with the bolt then make a bracket to go around the outside to hold them together

I'v made this type of bracket a few times for hydraulic, water and any thing else.
I machined them from a block of teflon, cut them in half and job done.

Teflon works and is good for reasonably high temperatures; Nylon or Delrin is good too, but the easiest to get and the cheapest is to go to a discount store and buy a plastic cutting board. These are usually HDPE (high density polyethylene) or UHDPE (ultra...) sold for kitchen use.
