Re: What every SLC should sound like.

Thanks for the add Ken. Ive been meaning to start a build thread but never got around to it. First to introduce myself. My name is Daniel and I'm a master tech for BMW in Metro Detroit. Fran and his amazing team completed the chassis modifications to get the V10 to fit. They also fab'd a custom adapter plate and crank sensor pick up wheel to get the engine to fire up like factory which took a lot of careful planning and designing of multiple components. Thanks to Fran, Rick and his team the car fires up seamlessly. Unfortunately, the factory intake plenum was not used due to it being too big and bulky for the SLC chassis. As far as engine management goes I decided to go with the Delta 800 ecu w/ plug and play harness that Specialist Components offers out of the UK. Here are a few pictures of the build. I guess this can be the start of my build thread. Ill just keep attaching pictures as they come.

Re: What every SLC should sound like.

Beautiful. This car will spend its life with the rear deck open for all to admire, I'll be right there shoulder to shoulder with everyone else.

I can't see enough of the muffler exhaust to understand the purpose of the third pipe.

Re: What every SLC should sound like.

Mesa,
Due to the limited space on my Slc it wasn't possible to add an x-pipe with my configuration. Also the custom burns mufflers have a 2.5 inch core (to reduce as much noise as possible) so that is the reason for having the third pipe. With that set up I wanted the option of having a fully adjustable electronic valve to allow better exhaust flow and raise sound level to my liking. If you listen closely to the youtube video you can hear the exhaust note change at about 53 seconds. It's hard to tell because of the echoing in the garage but it's much more noticeable under acceleration.

Re: What every SLC should sound like.

Matt, whenever I get the car back you are more than welcome to see it. I'm sure it will be at several events throughout the year also.

Re: What every SLC should sound like.

I'm so excited to finally see an S85 in one of these. What's the eta for getting it back from Allen?
