Hi Brian,

sorry let me rephrase my question....:)
Does somebody know something about the history of THIS car :) Was it scratch build, or from a kit ? ...who owned it.... and so on ...

Thx

You probably saw this...but if you didn't, some of the photos on eBay show the tow truck with the Sacramento, CA phone number (916-455-5051). the date, if correct, says August 1, 2008. that's not too long ago. you may want to give the tow company a call, send them a couple of photos from eBay and they may recall where they picked it up...or have some records of doing so (since you have a date). just a thought.

Hello Carlos

Sorry for my misunderstanding. I searched the Manta registry and found this. Car #152

Mirage Registry

Notice the small pictures in the ad you posted are the same ones in the registry photos that were taken for Ebay back in July 2008. It makes me wonder if the car is actually in this guys possesion, if he lifted pictures off another website, that are almost three years old. Terry Oxandale (also on this site) has car #139 according to the registry.

Manta Registry

Perhaps, he might chime in and have some information as to the build details.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
Regards Brian

Hi Brian,

hmmmm ok thx for the information. The car seems to be in Amsterdam right now and is undergoing a restoration. At least this is what the add is saying...I wonder how they want to make it street legal in germany :) This will be a very funny discussion with the "Inspector of the day " :)
How ever, will observe the auction to see what is going on .....again thx a lot, was very helpful ....also the links

cheers

We have a forum for ebay auctions.......

So Ron, just for clarity, I understand the rule prohibting eBay links in the for sale section, but does your post above mean it is also not allowed in this section? or did you move it from another section to this one? So no references to any related eBay auctions allowed on this site in any manner? Please clarify?

Best,
Kelly

Please have a look at the World Market rules. Ebay links are allowed in this subforum.

OK. I had done so before my post. I just didnt understand your previous post. Perhaps this thread was moved though if so, someone reading it for the first time couldn't know that.

Best,
K

It's definitely a Mirage. The car sold back in the '70s to mid '80 as kit or fully assembled car. It was a neat idea back then, and I feel it has more Lola T163 in its appearance (with a hard-top added to it) than it has McLaren. IMHO, the Mirage is a fair (at best) design of the framing, suspension, and body. I've felt compelled to re-design then re-fabricate about 80% of the frame, 100% of the suspension, install a different drivetrain, and only because I actually want my Mirage to look like a McLaren, most of the body panels have been hacked on.
For the money and labor I’ve put into my Mirage, I could have built a nice ’40 or SLC. But I’m enjoying the process.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com<img src=" /><o:p></o:p>
