Fitting a rear bulkhead window in a GTD

Now that I've obtained a new bulkhead window the time has come to fit it.
The old (broken) one came out a treat but does anybody have any tips on fitting the new one?
I'm thinking DIS (Do It Someone else) might be the best tip!

Ooh good, this is something I need to know about too.
I havn't got a window yet though, I did hear of a glass double glazed one. Or was I dreaming??

Rob, it really is quite easy, BUT I recommend you use new rubber seals, dont try to use the old ones as they have hardened with age. Call Robin Batt at Baines &co, Tunbridge Wells, Kent, who are the manufacturers of the rubber surround seals, on 01892 543311. Frank

Just this past weekend, I helped my father-in-law and
brother-in-law put a new rear window in my f-i-l's '54
Ford Panel Delivery. The principle is most likely the
same. Place the window in the gasket/seal, and put a strong
string around the outer edge of the gasket/seal. Then coat
the opening in the bulkhead with sealant, and have someone
press the window/gasket into place from the outside.
On the inside, pull the string slowly (it spreads the
gasket over the lip of the opening) from around the window.
At the same time, the person on the outside should be
applying even and steady pressure on the window, but not
too much.

We had some sharp edges, and my f-i-l had to stop pulling
the string on one end and start from the other, but it
worked (and boy was he happy).

Ian, I'd heard of something like this years ago but your explanation makes things really clear.
