Need a little help from my friends

I hit a brick wall with my plans to ship my RF40 to New Zealand to race in Feb 2009. I don't know why, but I had a figure in my head for the shipping cost and when the quote came back during the week, more than double I was shattered realizing I would not be able to go. I was still reeling when Andrew East rang, to see if I had ordered his seats and I broke the bad news to him, during our conversation. Andrew then suggested I ask for $200 sponsorships from my friends on the forum and that he would be first to offer me his $200. I was blown away by his offer and after some time I realized the idea wasn't a bad one but I would like to give something in return.
So my aim is to raise $8000 (which will just cover the shipping) by offering 40 forum friends to become team members of my racing team called "Team 40 to New Zealand".
Team members will recieve a DVD of in car race video/ other race meeting footage and scenery from the beautiful South Island of NZ. In effect a touring /race video of the whole trip. Also other momentos/souvenirs from NZ will be included.

Add me to the list, Ross.

Sponsoring a GT40 racing effort has to be on the list of things every man should do at least once in his lifetime.

T.

p.s. - there are 38 slots left... what about the rest of the members of that exclusive Roaring Forties group known as the 'RF Mates'?

Thank you guys. I should point out that the Aussie dollar is weak and here is the adjusted cost in your currency.

200 Aus dollars = 130 US dollars or 88 GB pounds approx.

Only 37 more team members required now:thumbsup:

Thanks again

Ross -

Even though I didn't end up with a GT40 as I had envisioned....and I still haven't started to assemble my Lotus Europa TCS/4AGE-20V/NG3 you can count me in. You are an inspiration!

Sorry Craig I should have made it clear it's 200 Australian dollars.
It is also a good Idea to include your forum name with your payment.
Thanks

Hey Guys,

Well done in stepping up to the plate and helping Ross out and joining Team 40 to NZ. I know I have benefitted from information gleaned from Ross's posts over the years which has saved me many hours\days in set up time with my RF. Not to mention the enjoyment of reading his detailed and comprehensive race reports. I consider the joining cost to Team 40 to NZ a small fee in recognition of the above and a small contribution to assist Ross a fellow RF/GT40 owner attain his dream of running his 40 in some events in his home country.

Ross you'd better PM details to me!

What a fantastic response so far. I have 14 Team members and 26 memberships left to fill. Russ Noble is frantically trying to finish his scratch built 40, to join me on the track, so there may be 2 GT40s running. Brisbane Pete's wife Di has secretly paid for a membership and word is it was Pete's Four x beer money! I'm glad I won't be around when he finds out.
Team 40 to NZ members will soon recieve a weekly PM with details of preparation and ongoing info from the race meetings in New Zealand.

Be Part of the Team it's going to be a unique experience and you'll get an insight into what ( behind the scenes) of racing, is all about.

Have spoken to a good friend of mine who could do a complete container for a lot less than that if you are interested. Send me your details and I will put you in contact with them.
Cheers

Happy New Year Ross, I would be delighted in helping a very worthy cause for your pursuit in international GT40 racing. Who knows the USA might be a possability one day.

Made a ramp to help secure the RF40 into the container. I stole Andrew Easts Idea for locking down the wheels with straps, but the rest came out of my head.Container arrives this friday for loading so I can only hope I have everything ready to go into it. Here are pics of the ramp, doesn't look like much but there was a bit of work in it. I'll take more photos when loading begins.
