New Build - William Stapleton

Hi All!!! Very excited to be a part of the small (but strong!) SLC community. I purchased the turn key SL-C build in January, and now Allan is about to do his magic!

I am using a 4.7 Maserati V8 paired with a Porsche PDK transaxle (paddle shift). First paddle shift and Maserati to be completed by Allan.

I look forward to sharing the build as I get more information and getting to know my new brothers!

Welcome to GT40's William. Congrats on your purchase. Sounds like a very unique SLC. As Allan provides you with pictures and information, please start a build thread. You couldn't have found a better builder. Each one of his creations is just a little more unique than the last it seems. If you can dream it, Allan can build it.

Regards Brian

Every time I hear or read "Maserati" I get Ted Nugent-Wango Tango stuck in my head.

That sounds like an awesome build William, welcome and look forward to following along and will offer any assistance I can.

welcome
im curious how and who is figuring out how to make the Porsche pdk work while bolted to Ferrari/Maserati engine. Please bring this tech to the forum.

Hiya Dusty, will do!

When I approached Fran with the build he said that they would just make an adapter plate for me to make it work. I had to send my engine to Fran for the mock up.

Welcome! That's definitely a unique drivetrain. Can't wait to see it come together!. There are several SLC's in TX. I'm down in Austin -- feel free to IM if you're ever coming to the area.

Nice to meet you Mark! Yes I would love to meet ya. I have a good friend in Bastrop that I can see while there.

Yeah I am very excited for the drivetrain set up. I have owned 5 Maserati’s since I was 22 and love the brand (meaning I love what it used to be pre 2012), so having the 4.7 V8 was a must have.

I was fell in love with Group C racing from the late 80’s - mid 90’s, watching Schumacher in what at time seemed like futuristic space ship flying down the road.

Now I get to build my own, Maserati style

Just an update, attached are photos of my engine and steering wheel option I am going with.

The engine is a 4.7 Maserati/Ferrari V8 from a 2015 GranTurismo GTS. The engine has 6,000 miles. I worked with Formula Dynamics (Jeff is the owner) out of Las Vegas to acquire the engine which was is perfect condition. Formula Dynamics is an aftermarket Maserati and Ferrari specializing in performance parts which are created in house. Definitely a great resource.

As far as the steering wheel, I have always loved this GT style. I think it will compliment the look of the car I am going for.

Hey Ken, yes I have!

Twin turbo Maserati out of Florida if I am not mistaken. They have had a lot of problems with that set up, and frankly given the horsepower output they are trying to achieve, it really makes the car WAY overpowered (hopefully no one thinks that comment is sac religious LOL) and causes undue stress on an already powerful Italian engine.

Once Allan and I have tuning done correctly (along with air flow modifications and exhaust), my horsepower should be somewhere between 530-550. Really a sweet spot for power on these SLC’s according to Fran and Allan given their weight.

I would love to know the owner of that one Ken if you have more info.

Congrats and welcome! Allan is great to work with and you'll enjoy the process. He's definitely not scared of taking on unique builds or anything relating to building a SLC/GTR.....that's for sure.

Hey Guys!

Looks like we are about 10 days or so out from Fran finishing up with the build to send to Allan.

I know it’s a rough draft (using Sharpie markers LOL), but I have attached my color scheme for all to see.

Top will be done as a “black out”, extending down into the hood cutout. This will be a in a high gloss piano black. This will also include carbon accents.

Main body will be a deep “midnight blue” with an accent gold sparkle/flake for a shimmering effect.

Interior will a dark red with carbon accents. This red will tie into the red Brembo calipers and rear wing side plates.

Wheels will be a golden bronze as shown in the attached photo, complimenting the gold sparkle/flake of the main body color.

Any comments are appreciated!!

Howdy fellow Texan, my car is dark blue gel coat with gold wheels, for now. I am in West Texas (San Angelo ) you probably never heard of it, but I am 4 hours away, Real close by Texas standards. I will definitely pay you a visit once my build is complete, I am doing the standard LS3 525 crate engine with Graziano. Let me know if you have any questions. Need pictures Etc. I am right in the middle of my build , like Joel, Kurt, Kyle, Mark B, Aaron H and few others I am forgetting if you need ideas or feedback. Good luck with your build!!!

Hector!!! Thank you brother

Yes you are right, a 3 hour drive is practically “around the corner”. I would very much like to meet you as well and see how your build is coming along. Allan is just about to receive my car from Fran. Should be the beginning of this next month!

I just signed up for Park Up Front so it would be cool to attend shows together.
