Newbie in the UK

Looking to order a kit soon and having restored cars, and a bit of racing looking forward after a long break to be doing something again.
Been on the bucket list to build a GT40 for decades so its about time.

Looking at the following kits and open to suggestions or gotchas I haven't thought about:

  1. RCR GT40 Mk1 - Aluminium Monocoque
  2. Tornado Sport cars - Aluminium Monocoque
  3. Possibly AK40 - This seems to be spaceframe only, and according to the website not yet able to accept a Coyote engine
Any other kits other than CAV / SuperPerformance (cost prohibitive) with deliveries to the UK I should consider?

Plan is to use:
  1. Power Distribution Module rather than fuses and relays
  2. Throttle bodies rather than carbs
  3. Engine - Not 100% possible the Coyote Aluminator XS but possibly old school just the weight concerns me as the old blocks all seem to be cast iron.
  4. Electric A/C
  5. 48V Starter / Generator setup
Any thoughts on areas to consider carefully before choosing, any advice appreciated.

Join the GT40 Enthusiasts Club. There will be a group near you. Your local owners will have cars to look at and lots of knowledge and experience to offer. I don't know which part of the country you are in so can't direct you to your local organiser but the club website is here.
Sort out the transaxle first that will handle the power/torque you envisage and the cost.
Cheers

I guess the Essex area will be your nearest as the Midlands area does not have an organiser at the moment. Check out the meetings and events on the club website for details of where and when they meet.
Cheers

AK Sportcars, who are not far away in Peterborough, have their open day this Saturday and their current demonstrator has a Coyote engine with Jenvey throttle bodies, so would be worth a visit to discuss options

Unfortunately have family over this weekend. Otherwise that would have been an excellent shout.
I will reach out to them and see if I can arrange to see it another day

Hi Leigh, I have a GTRacing chassis with a Coyote gen 1 installed, I'm in South Bucks if you'd like to look over it and get some ideas. There are many things I would do differently in hind sight.

Regards
Martin

Thanks Martin.
If you don't mind I would love to come and take a look, and get the insight you now have.

I'm back next week from travels, so if you have time next weekend 21st/22nd that would be great.

Thanks,
Leigh
