Nostril panel clearance to radiator

Is it common to have to remove the nostril panel before opening the front clip. The bottom of the nostrils catches on the top of my radiator unless I lay the radiator over about 45 degrees. The car is a Roaring Forties and the radiator is a common GT40 aftermarket unit. I would like the radiator to sit more upright but this would mean taking the nostril panel off before opening the clip. Probably no big problem.

I plan on hinging the nostril and a gas shock. No re and re each time and safe storage while clip is open.
I remember thinking the same thing - I even bought hinges. But, the only way it would have worked on my RCR was to put the hinges on the front of the nostril panel - or hinge at the back and cut off the bottom of the nostrils to clear radiator and fans..

Same dilemma, I may use 69/70 Mustang louver hinges. I have the slimmest fans I could find that just may clear the nostril. If not they will go on the front. Don't want to cut the glass.
