Original Paint Gloss?

Hi
There is a lot of info on exterior paint codes and if it was lacquer. But my question is on the originals at the time they were painted in the mid 60's, was it shot and left alone or was it color sanded or simply buffed out and was it just one heavy coat?
Thanks guys

Paint ingredients where different back then. Enamel paint vs the two pack acrylic we have today not to mention the waterpaints..

'60s & '70s metalic paint didn' have clear coat at all, it was just metalic in the primary paint with nothing to ad gloss.

So 60s paint should be more satin in a %degree compared to modern paint.

Thanks. I guess I was looking specifically as in that back in the day I've seen race cars were just shot with lacquer and left alone (Grand Sports) others were just sprayed then polished, while others were sprayed, sanded....then polished.
Cheers
