P1047j???

"Hello"... Can anyone tell me the story behind the yello/black GT40 P1047J? Should I be posting this question in the replica section, or is it really a kit of original parts built up in the 90's by Shelby-Japan?

Also, why would the official logbook declare it's a 1967 Mk2b and is it worth big money? As usual more questions than answers.

OK, after more research and looking at the registration document 1047J was owned by Fran Kress of Pittsberg. I know it could've been 1047B I guess as that was sold a few years ago, possibly to Japan, and there's talk of it being made up of a tennant monocoque plus original spare parts, but what about 1047J.. it's the "J" which is confusing???
 
This car was built by Kenny Thompson along side its sister car of Tim Ganskops in the early 90s. They were both built using Tims original blueprints and alot of left over original parts and bodys made from the original MK11b molds bought at the Holman Moody auctions of the 70s. Both cars had 427 tunnelports and T-44s. Tim still has his car and Kenny is working on a batch of MKIVs and just finished his latest creation which can be seen in the december issue of Popular Hot Rodding.

Andrew, I repaired the tail after a crash last year just before Fran Kress sold the car to a person in Japan. I believe Fran sold the car for $450K. I think Fran sold a Shelby 350 to the same person when the MKII went to Japan. I didn't have time to cast a mould off the tail. It was a good example of the MKII"B" tail !
