Rallying the GT40

Hi all,
I have read references to a '40 being rallied...
I can't help thinking 5 inches of ground clearance would be fine for Pikes Peak, Colorado. As would the wonderful noise and sight of such a beast heading skywards!
I might be mad,(this rubber room is pretty nice), but wouldn't it be awesome !
Has anybody done something similar?

Robert,

What was the context of the information? If it was a "classic rally", then it may just mean that they were touring, or possibly a navigational type competition. I can't imagine that its configuration would lend it to any type of successfull off-road stuff.

It wouldn't be the ground clearance that
got you at Pike's Peak. The typical runoff
on outside turns can involve a 30 to 70
degree drop of 50-200 feet. The rocky terrain wouldn't do the undercarriage a lot of good either.
