Road America 2012

Seen at Road America, Elkhart Lake, WI, yesterday.

Not like 2009, when the GT40's were being celebrated. Then Ford had a tent full of originals and a large assortment of reproductions filled the display areas. Only saw one GT40 on the track this year.

It's interesting to me that the Robertsons are actually racing a car that they raced to a podium at LeMans (at least it looks that way to me- they have both the yellow- and red-trimmed cars there in the picture).

No saving them for posterity in some musty museum. I like that!

"Only saw one GT40 on the track this year"

There were two GT40s from Robertson Racing in Group 10 at "The Hawk at Road America" event-- "004" is silver and yellow and "40" is silver and red. (see Robertson Racing- Le Mans Series Race Team). I did not see any reference to RCR on their website or on their "Robertson Racing" FaceBook page, but the "RCR" on the sides of both GT40s caught my eye.

That is one of two he had at Mid Ohio the end of June 2012.

one of the team members told me they were Ford GTs build for racing.
I noticed the RCR decals?? RCR cars?

RCR built a lot of the parts on the car- that's why they have RCR stickers.

They are Doran-built Ford GTs, not GT-40s.

Thanks-- I missed that distinction. They were listed in the RA program guide as (year/make/model) "06 Ford GT Mark 7".
