T5 Behind FE

I am playing around with a project ATM. It has a forged 455FE with some decent heads, cam etc. Should make a bit of torque.
The car currently has a world T5 in it.
I am thinking the box might need changing, perhaps a Tremec TKO.

Anyone have experience with similar combinations?

It makes a BIG noise. :D

Apologies if wrong forum.

From all rumors, experience and guessing . . . a T5 won't hold a healthy FE motor on the pavement.

I went TKO 600RR with my built 460 and no problems.

Tim --have a chat to Mal Wood --he's the full bottle on Tremec cog boxes
and yeah TKO or Magnum are rated at up to 700 ftlbs torque
The T5 ~300 ft lbs sadly

There are a couple of HD T5 options that may take the torque but they're not cheap. Look into the GForce T5. The TKO's don't like to be shifted fast with 3rd gear being the one most problematic.
The T56 is probably a better option if you have the room for it. Yes, it's heavy, but also very strong.

I had the WC T5, which was later updated with all the G-Force pieces. Very robust, but I don't think the case will stay together behind that much torque IF the traction is excellent.

Thankyou for your responses.
I have contacted Mal, thanks Chris, and I think I will go with the T56.

I will drive carefully until then. ;)

Tim.
