USA GT40...can anyone give me info?

I have a line on a completed roller but don't know too much about the company.

Can anyone help me with it's lineage etc?

Wayne, is your CAV a tube-frame or a monocoque and when did they change from the former to the latter?

Pete

Wayne's blue CAV is a tube frame.
CAV didn't make many tube frames before
switching to Mono. The mono has more leg room
and the "panache" of being a mono.
And apparently it wasn't that much more
expense for CAV so they decided to drop the
tube frame, I assume, to simplify production.

Thanks, the car I'm looking at is a tube-frame so was wondering about it like...are the mono mechanicals interchangeable with the tube-frame etc...I was going to e-mail CAV but the brain trust here is quicker and able to unscramble stuff quickly.

Is it correct that the original tube-frame CAV is a derivative of the GTD car? Read through the interesting and lengthy CAV posts but am still somewhat confused about the lineage.

Trying to make an informed decision.

Yep

The CAV is derived from the GTD.
Andre confirmed that.
CAV had both a tube frame and mono
at Carlisle Kit Car show last year,
and as far as I know, they are essentially
identical except for the added interior
space that the mono provides, and of course
the different look the mono has.
But everything else is the same.
Very nice cars.
