Vehicle Registration Nightmare

Can anyone help me avoid the dreaded SVA ? I have heard of people using log-books from American Ford GT's and swapping over the chassis numbers and engine numbers. Can anyone advise me on this? Can anyone supply me with a log book ?

I am desperate as the car is nearing completion and I want to do some road testing before paint etc.

Mark,

A dodgy subject.
I do know of several people who have gone down this route, personally I wouldn't consider it.
You have to remember that the chances of being stopped by the Police is far greater in a '40 and you can bet your grannies pension they will go over it with a fine tooth comb, that is after they have admired the beast.
If you have an accident and need to claim on your Insurance ( if you can get it)the Engineers will have a field day proving the car is not what your Log book says it is.
I have been told the SVA is not that difficult to pass if you are well prepared. Talk to Frank Catt he has a box of 'SVA parts' and a fair knowledge of the the test.

Good luck.
