I'm going to make the jump into ZF repair and tweaking. Since I have rebuilt a couple dozen manual transmissions and have set up a couple dozen differentials I don't think there will be many surprises. Pinion depths, pre-loads, end-play and a real good eye for machined surface defects are fairly universal.
I am looking for one or both of the following items/person:
1. a trashed ZF that's not too trashed. I don't need one that has grenaded itself or should be sold for scrap prices. Bad bearings, gear sets, shafts or synchros OK.
2. a customer who needs their ZF rebuilt and is willing to allow me the time it takes to build the tools needed to rebuild and set up their transmission. Labor rate considerations for helping me develop the tools.
So dig out that burned out ZF and either sell it to me or get it rebuilt for the least cost possible.
