I am staying in Pebble all week and just ran by the auction site. They are in major tear down mode, but there amongst all the nuckle-heads swinging hammers, etc. was the Forty along with some other cars. I attempted to walk up to it as nobody seemed to care but as I got close, three Gooding auction guys came out of the weeds and forced me back. Said it was still a live site and that owners were picking up their cars.
I can't image paying $1.4M for that car and having it sit there in the open over night with a bunch of morons disassembling tents all around it.
Such is life at Pebble Beach apparently.
Not sure if anyone knew it, but 1086 was at the Bahia Cantina restaurant on display last thursday night and then at the Quail show on Friday. I talked to the owner - fairly young guy. Car sporting a single 4 bbl carb - not webbers. Looked really sweet.
