Well... While this isn't a shock to me, it apparently has been to everyone around me, including my wife......... I sold my SLC IR/8.
I had been kicking the idea around for a couple of months, happen to see a couple of people looking for a finished or almost finished SLC so I hit them up to see if anyone was interested in mine. First person that responded and talked to was
@SeanH , we came to an agreement after the holidays were over and started the process. One thing I requested as part of the sell was to keep up-to-date on Sean's updating of this car. I can't lie, I was kinda bummed about seeing it loaded up on transport and really sucks not seeing it in the shop when I walk in.
I guess to complete the thread, I should list my excuses (ahem, I mean reasons) for selling. It's pretty apparent by my activity in my own thread, I simply just don't drive the car enough and I really hate letting it sit. My daughter is 3 now and as of now, loves cars/bikes/trucks so she enjoys car shows, C&C, etc.... she's my co-pilot when I go, my wife stays home. She loves to ride around the neighborhood in the SLC, but that got me thinking.... at 3 I definitely don't feel 100% comfortable to put her seat in the passenger seat of the SLC in her car seat. Even in a few years when she moves into a booster seat and I figured out a way to confidentially strap her in the car, I still don't think I'd feel comfortable hitting the public roads. If I had a Corvette, Viper, Porsche, etc, I "think" I'd consider letting her ride up front in them. I do not really know why, I know the SLC is definitely up to the task, just being a paranoid parent I suppose.
So from this point on, the money is put aside except for a little play money for myself and my wife. My wife truly does deserve money from the sell, she let me do this whole SLC thing without ever batting an eye at the cost. To be honest, she never asked what the total cost of it was until months after it was delivered from Allan. I'm planning on waiting a year or 2 before purchasing another fun car, hoping used car prices will have settled by then. My play money will be going to another Hayabusa to build since they finally came out with the next generation. Daughter will get a CRF50 for Christmas so between both of those builds, it'll keep me occupied and content. The last picture attached is what I call my wall of shame, all my old personalized plates since we get to keep them after selling a car. Couple of the plates have been on and off several vehicles.
I hope to remain part of the the SLC group and input info when I can. There's no doubt I'll continue to follow everyone's current builds, as well as new builds coming............including my own car.
@SeanH Congrats and I hope you will start your own build thread and continue to update as progress continues! I won't spoil any of your future plans for the car, but I can't wait to see progress!
