Rep Power: 1 | Anyone know this KVA? Hi all, Have just joined the lower ranks of 40' ownership and very much wet behind the ears. I bought this rolling chassis V6 MK1 from from GTS tuning in <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com ffice:smarttags" /><st1:City w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Canterbury this month</st1:place></st1:City>. They are soon to launch their GTS-40 replica version. I dont have the previous owner’s details so I am in the dark a bit on its history. I have found a number on the chassis of 2455. Have had a good search on the net but I does not pop up, nor seems to follow any pattern (seems typical with KVA).<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com ffice ffice" /><o:p></o:p> <o:p> </o:p> <o:p>The car runs & obviously needs wiring, finishing etc but I just wondered if any of you recognised it from someone you may have known & knew any history?</o:p> <o:p></o:p> <o:p>Many thanks for any feedback, positive, or negative about the images (some were pre-delivery so still covered in glass fibre from the workshop)</o:p> <o:p></o:p> <o:p>Chris</o:p> <o:p></o:p> <o:p>p.s. Great forum!</o:p> <o:p></o:p> |

early chassis you have there. What size rear wheels do you have? They look fairly big!! Some good stuff too, is that an engine oil cooler?
Be sure to keep in touch,

Yes that is a oil cooler. The rear tyres are Pirelli P7's 345/35VP15's on revolution wheels.
Thanks for the interest.

As you and Murray said, you have an early chassis there. The KVA moved on to the "C" type chassis which more closely replicated the original type.
As far as I understand, quite a few early chassis owners had their rear chassis changed, and I THINK, this became a speciality of GTD before they started building their own chassis (please someone correct me if I'm wrong here)
The (rather convoluted) reason why I am mentioning it, is that IF you did decide to update the rear end suspension to the GTD setup, I have a GTD rear chassis section sitting in my garden here doing nothing. You are more than welcome to it as it's only going to the dump otherwise!

ps, looks like you've got a damn good start to a car there!
pps, so, do we now know the heritage of the GTS tuning car?

I am in Flackwell Heath, 10mins up the road as I am sure you will know. I have been to Tony's house & had a go in his GTD. (start of the bug that I now have!)
Before too long there there could be a GT40 Enthusuasts Bucks & Berks meet! Am sure we could find a good pub... |

Rep Power: 1 | Re: Anyone know this KVA? Hi Simon,
Thanks for the offer of the GTD rear end. The V6 will remain in & as I understand it the upgraded rear end was because the type A I have is not man enough for a V8. In years to come I may change it to the "real thing" & cut the back end off but this is way off as I want to finish the car in its current engine / gearbox configuration (as its already done & seems a waste of money). Having run the V6 as it is the sound is fine & whilst it may be left behind off the lights but you 5.0 boys I'll make up for it on late breaking!
The GTS 40 GTs-40 as I understand (& from what I saw) was not finished but the chassis, bodywork, etc was. GTS are to also start to supply other parts (seats etc) so if you, or others, have interest I suggest you contact them directly. |
