| Re: Chris Melia's Mono "Raiders of the lost Arc" Today with the help of Andy Booth, we prepared the fuel sponsons ready to take the bag Tanks.
This meant that each space between the webs had to have a high density foam insert installed to give a flat base for the bag tank to sit on.
Also using tank tape we taped over all the seams and welds to prevent the tanks from chafing when installed. |

| Re: Chris Melia's Mono "Raiders of the lost Arc" Nice picture Chris.
Glad to see your progressing well.
I didn't realise the fuel cells had foam under them, or is this a concession to safety on your part ?
I bet those tanks are gonna be a bugger to feed through and get seated properly |

| Re: Chris Melia's Mono "Raiders of the lost Arc" Hi John
its not a safety issue, if you look at the bottom of the bag tank in the photo you will see its flat, its only the sides and the top that are recessed for the ribs. The tanks have to be flat at the bottom to allow the fuel to flow fully out.
regards
Chris. |

| Re: Chris Melia's Mono "Raiders of the lost Arc" Hi Guys
I thought I would update this thread for you as I have had most of my energies directed getting the ZFQ transaxle into production over the last 18 months.
Over the next few days I will post photos of the suspension installation complete with solid discs and original callipers. Fitting the suspension was not easy and I found that quite a bit of fettling and machining was necessary.
I found that I had to take the rear hubs apart again to machine the bearing spacers to position the rear discs central in the callipers. More material had to be taken off the rear edge of the front callipers to give decent clearance between calliper and wheel. I also had to cut the tapered hole that locates the steering joint deeper to clear the inset on the 10" front magnesium BRM's.
The car now sits on its wheels and is fitted with Blue Streaks, the wheels were retained by custom made billet spinners from John Wisher and had their threads matched to each individual hub thread.
Front and rear roll bars have been trial fitted and were supplied by Dave Brown.
The Weslake engine is getting close to completion with one rocker shaft, inlet manifold and 4 X 48IDA's still to fit. The engine is stroked and internally balanced and should be good for 520HP
Regards
Chris. |

| Re: Chris Melia's Mono "Raiders of the lost Arc" Hi guys
Well, I guess it time to get back onto this old girl and push on with the build, I picked up a set of T & D roller rockers for the Weslake heads, they are substantially better than the standard Weslake rockers.
Link T&D Machine Products
This new addition means that I now have to get a new set of head studs made, which is the way of the forty?
I found a company in Northampton to handle the job called T & K Precision Ltd they actually roll the threads instead of cutting them, and supply a lot of F1 teams.
