Rep Power: 18 | Sandy's RCR40 Gulf Chassis #11 Here is the start of the build thread for my RCR-40. The car is currently being built by Fran to the Rolling Chassis stage with the body and gulf paint being completed. I'll post what I got from Fran. Some things are still pending, roll bar and some of the fastners for the plastic amongst some of the visible.
The are presented in random order, some with the single and dual snorkle hood.

I think I can squeeze a 15" width tire, but then the diameter goes down a bit, and my gearing in the 930 box is low enough.
Thanks to all for the comments (past and future) as well! More coming as Fran's guy's keep cranking.
Sandy

Rep Power: 18 | Re: Sandy's RCR40 Gulf Chassis #11 I am copying a couple of the engine/trans images here to start to keep things together.
These are the custom 2" SS headers that Fran came up with. I had them made more like the 427 style (squared off looking) as that is what I favor.
The trans is a PowerHausII 930 box with modified 3rd/4th gear ratios, full oiler, and some other nice things to hopefully keep it together.
The engine specs, from the orig thread
( http://www.gt40s.com/forum/tech-engi...bers-just.html)
Peak 618Hp/468lbsTq at 7400rpm
Some numbers off the sheet were like this -
Rpm/Hp
...
6800 600
7000 609
7100 614
7200 615
7300 616
7400 618
7500 617
...
8000 600
8100 595
8200 586
347cu Motor, Edelbrock Victor heads/Intake, Dart alloy block, Bryant crank 3.255", Dyers top rods, Comp Camp solid roller, Jessel shaft rockers, 850cfm worked over carb, dry sump.
Hey Fran I'll be needing that 10k tach-o
Sandy

Rep Power: 8 | Re: Sandy's RCR40 Gulf Chassis #11 Hi Sandy,
Very impressive work! I was wondering about the windshield install, it looks like it is a totally flush install without any trim that hangs out over the A-pillar etc, something I was hoping to do.
I was trying to avoid using something like this: Creative Extruded - FlexiTrim Universal Molding System
and I was wondering if you could give us any details you might have on what was used (or just slap me if the windshield is just sitting in the opening for now).
Thanks,
Al |

| Re: Sandy's RCR40 Gulf Chassis #11 Al,
the first slap is on me....
Original windscreens dont use a rubber gasket or trim..they are stuck in place and then the remaining void is filled with the same adhesive....
