Re: RF#025 Historic Build and ongoing development

Ross,
in order to be able to adjust the ARB on the go you need to turn the arm , commonly called the blade, The way you have the link to the upright connected you cannot turn it as the rod end will bind up. The axis of the rod end needs to be in line with the axis of the arm pivot.

The arm also seems to be of very substantial proportions and when turned in to the "flat" posn (min setting) it may still apply a substantial torque to the ARB.

The principal of this type of roll bar is that when it is in the flat posn the blade is intended to be flexible and not transmit a lot of torque to the ARB.

Re: RF#025 Historic Build and ongoing development

Hi Trevor
I don't know if I'm right but I think you may be referring to the fixed end of the bar.The blade is on the RH rear in the left photo of the three. The weekend I fitted that rear bar I ruined $1000 worth of tyres, in the photos you can see there is clearance to the inside of the tyres but when I fitted the wider slicks there wasn't any clearance and the sidewalls got chewed.
I also found out that same weekend how much force the ARB still provides with the blade on flat or soft, when I disconnected a drop link and the car handled better (less understeer).I am a wiser man than I was but also poorer. It's only Jac Mac that thinks I'm rich.

Ross

Re: RF#025 Historic Build and ongoing development

Trevor, Ross only has one adjustable blade on his ARB's, in this case the RH side blade ( LHS is fixed and had an extra function where it was able to reduce tire pressure while in motion, although I believe Ross is having some problems adjusting the rate at which it performs this function ), we have debated this before when he first fitted the system to the front end and fitted the adjustment to one end only. Personally I believe its a deplorable attempt to save cash for other frivolities like Pantera's etc

Jac Mac,

Well then we better not tell him that it wont work, or that his car has two wheels at the back and such things as when the blade is flat zero deflection of the ARB is reqd, Shhhhhhhhh
