Ross,
in order to be able to adjust the ARB on the go you need to turn the arm , commonly called the blade, The way you have the link to the upright connected you cannot turn it as the rod end will bind up. The axis of the rod end needs to be in line with the axis of the arm pivot.

The arm also seems to be of very substantial proportions and when turned in to the "flat" posn (min setting) it may still apply a substantial torque to the ARB.

The principal of this type of roll bar is that when it is in the flat posn the blade is intended to be flexible and not transmit a lot of torque to the ARB.

Hi Trevor
I don't know if I'm right but I think you may be referring to the fixed end of the bar.The blade is on the RH rear in the left photo of the three. The weekend I fitted that rear bar I ruined $1000 worth of tyres, in the photos you can see there is clearance to the inside of the tyres but when I fitted the wider slicks there wasn't any clearance and the sidewalls got chewed.
I also found out that same weekend how much force the ARB still provides with the blade on flat or soft, when I disconnected a drop link and the car handled better (less understeer).I am a wiser man than I was but also poorer. It's only Jac Mac that thinks I'm rich.

Ross

Trevor, Ross only has one adjustable blade on his ARB's, in this case the RH side blade ( LHS is fixed and had an extra function where it was able to reduce tire pressure while in motion, although I believe Ross is having some problems adjusting the rate at which it performs this function ), we have debated this before when he first fitted the system to the front end and fitted the adjustment to one end only. Personally I believe its a deplorable attempt to save cash for other frivolities like Pantera's etc:)

Jac Mac,

Well then we better not tell him that it wont work, or that his car has two wheels at the back and such things as when the blade is flat zero deflection of the ARB is reqd, Shhhhhhhhh

Bump....blast from the past....What happened to Ross?? miss his race reports and as I prep my 40 for track work i find myself looking to Ross's car for ideas.

Ross has not been here for over three years...
I know that things were pretty tough on the family for a while there with the death of his son - rightfully so.... :(

Ross moved back to NZ a couple or three years ago, doing electrical wof type checks on Christchurch earthquake rebuilds, have not heard from him myself either..in fact the whole ChCh gang seem to have gone silent- Haroo, Lim, Russ, Ross etc. Trouble is when they are quiet it means a lots actually happening...:)

I didn't know either. I'm sorry For your loss Ross ,must of been a very difficult time.

Would be great to get Russ back as well.....I really enjoyed his build and racing tales. We never got to see Lims car either.

Russ has not changed much, just got rid of the mudguards, a few pics from the NZ Sth Island Formula Ford ( SIFF) website that he supported by way of his business for the last three seasons, seems to have worked with a resurgence of the class.

There are more pics of the transporter, tow wagon, living quarters on his 'Kiwi Scratch build goes racing thread in the Race Track Forum, about 14 pages in at moment. IIRC it was a Japanese mobile School Library truck, Russ is/was using an open trailer as just visible in pics above, post #31
