Re: GT 40 from CAD to Metal

The dimensions came from a mono built in NZ in the early 90's. About six were built. I assembled one of them in 2004-2005. I believe the builder of them took measurements from an original car P1030 that was at one time in aust.

Re: GT 40 from CAD to Metal

This is very interesting. Any possibility that there will one day be an 'open source' GT40 for builders around the world, following some sort of rigidly defined ISO document or set of drawings, just like what the Haynes 'Build Your Own Sportscar' by Ron Champion did for the 'Locost' type Lotus Seven inspired roadster brigade?

Nice work Trevor. What CAD and FEA software do you use?

Re: GT 40 from CAD to Metal

Pro Engineer WF 3 , ANSYS FEA . The model still has a lot of flanges for welded joints etc to be added and cutouts for overlaps to be tidied up.
I have not made any sheet metal parts as yet. Currently sorting suspension before finalising the pickup points and necessary reinforcing on the tub.

Re: GT 40 from CAD to Metal

Hi Trevor,

Are those upright's copies of the originals?
Would you mind sharing them for private use, possible for a small fee?

Greetings,
