Re: Rfgt40 #133

Got the car to the painters to get some color on then the rolling chassis back to the workshop for some finishing touches to the aluminium panels before going straight down to the trimmers.

Very happy with the trim work completed at Mcbride upholstery in Dromana.

Re: Rfgt40 #133

Hi Will,
Can you please tell me a bit about the car ni regards to the body? Does it have the gulf flare at the rear guards? Is there a roll cage and if so is it 4 or 6 point?

Thanks. Kind regards, Gus.

Re: Rfgt40 #133

Hi Gus,
The body is a standard RF body (no Golf flares). The cage is a bolt in standard RF 4 point.

Re: Rfgt40 #133

Throghout the start of the build I was fairly worried about the fabrication of the air intake. It stands out and is always seen. Here is a couple of before and after. Rear clip back from the painters and glass fitted.
Merry Christmas all

Re: Rfgt40 #133

Can you give some details as to the transaxle (type, year, donor car, anything else)?

Re: Rfgt40 #133

Hi Terry, the gearbox is an Audi 01E 6speed that is a very rare item in Australia. The large majority is imported from overseas for the GT40 kits. A surf on the forum will help provide details on the origin of the gearbox (USA,Europe,NZ). I have set up a few aftermarket limo diffs for these gearboxs that work well with a quick road car come limited track car.
