Glad it worked out in the end, I will advise Just Tickets of your thoughts and trust they will act accordingly.
BTW you may have been cut up by me in my 40 (sorry if I did) as I was the first out on the track of the GT40s (mine was the metallic Miami Blue car, LHD!) and we managed to stay 1st for one and a half laps until Paul Walton roared past in between the chicanes on lap 2, it just had to be Paul!
PS
Why is the event only every other year, I ask myself!

If a man were foolish enough to ship his car from Australia to France around the time of the 2009 event at Le Mans what club race events might be open for him to participate in, either in France or the UK or other venues in Europe ?

If you mean the next Classic, I am afraid it will be in 2010.
If you mean the Le Mans 24hrs, that is every year.
Paul

Seems we all suffered with huge amounts of traffic though, but maybe that is a deliberate ploy on behalf of the organisation to keep speeds down somewhat?
Also saw that the Ford GT slipped off before the end - so that's how to avoid sitting in the exit queue on the Bugatti Circuit! Think a few others could have done with that option to avoid overheating (not me this time I'm very glad to say).
Must download my pics from my camera tonight, then upload any good ones. My camera packed up half way through the weekend though :-( but can still get the pictures off the mempry card. My Brother still had his camera working, but was using film not digital so will have to wait until he gets them developed.
Must once again extend my gratitude to Roy for organising all the club stuff, and all the others who assisted, especially for the BBQ.
Cheers,
Max

I'm not entirley sure what is meant by the Classic, are there any events either two weeks before or two weeks after LM 2009 that would enable me to get a run at LM ? Or failing that other events in the UK or Europe that might be suitable for the car. In Australia I race in what is a re badged version of the old Marque Sports Cars which I think exists in club racing in the UK & Europe ?
Generally I am a fairly thick skinned individual but the pressure from the wife to do a UK visit is becoming almost beyond me !
So if I could tie that visit with a dirve at LM then I could persuade myself that the $ are worthwhile !

The Le Mans 24hr is every year, for modern cars.
The Classic Le Mans is every 2 years and is for cars approx 1923 to 1976.
There are events either side of the Classic.
There are some really good road racing events held in France either side of the Classic.
If i was you, i'd seriously consider contacting/joining the relevant UK and French racing clubs to get accurate info.
Hope that helps.
PS. You can only drive in your own car around the circuit at the Classic.

Rep Power: 18 | Re: Le Mans Classic 2008 11-12-13th July 2008 Is this a consumption record?
I filled up in Arnarge on Friday evening - Both tanks topped to max
Saturday I did the parade laps
I also did some driving Saturday & Sunday - back and forward to paddock etc. Probably 25 miles in total
Monday drove to Caen and then up the A3
I recon in all about 163 miles
I then filled up at Liphook services - again full to the top 25.27 litres
I make that 29.28 mpg based on UK gallon size which impresses the hell out of me as the laps were heavy foot and the Caen trip often at 40mph in traffic which means 3rd gear on my car and the fans turned on manual.
So is this the best ever consumption?
Ian

| Re: Le Mans Classic 2008 11-12-13th July 2008 Iain,
Tell her indoors that the exchange rate will improve in 2010, so much so that you can buy her a new apron and one of these new fangled bottle openers , and then you can get to to both events - usually about one month apart. The 24 hr is usually in the second weekend of June and the Classic will be announced soon I guess.
If the Goodwood and the Classic weekends are seperated - so much the better.
If I'm retired by then that's my plan.

I've been having difficulty accessing my FTP site ("Too Many Gateway Requests") which has prevented me from posting more photos. I'll work on putting more up, including shots from the morning drive-around, in the next day or two.

I wasn't complaining, merely commenting that I didn't feel it necessary to upload some of mine which were very similar to yours, and becuase they would be shrunk for attaching rather than hosting elsewhere the quality would also be lower. Anyway, here are some more (static) ones:-
