Here's the 2D dwg that I created to produce the 3D design for the chassis I intend to build.

Here's my 2 cents.

"jpkuehne - to my mind push/pull rod type suspension is not used not to just lighten unsprungs which is very important in itself."

Beg to differ. You have actually increased unsprung weight. You have added the pushrods and the bellcrank to the equation. The all the mass that moves is reacted by the spring.

Re: Cad Drawings and open frame design

Just been rummaging through my files & found this on a CD containing chassis drgs I did many years ago. This was done in AutoCAD which although not a true parametric 3D package does help with visualisation. My latest attempt is in Inventor & I'll post this once complete.

Re: Cad Drawings and open frame design

I am new to this site , and thinking about a scratch built gt-40. Just finished a scratch cobra( classic body, fe big block.) I was thinking the mustang II front and thunderbird rear also. Wanted to know if you got anywhere on chassis design , and where is the best place to purchase a body. Can you give me a ballpark figure on what a body will cost?

Re: Cad Drawings and open frame design

Has anyone found any big dimension errors on the Brian Wolff plans. I too am using them as a bassis for my plans, and any info would be appreciated. Also, does anyone know if original body measurements will fit this frame?
Thanks Steve;

Steve, I would double check anything and everything Brian Wolf has done. I've had some dealings with him. A long story! A total wast of time! Email me if you like at; datonabill at msn dot com

Re: Cad Drawings and open frame design

thanks for the site. will try it out against my drawings. should be close.
http://www.webguy.ca/downloads/kitcarplans/kitplans.php.

this site gives you the way to make the buck and the chassis.

if its drawn in cad, and you have the basic demensions, you could scale the drawing to suit?

big week ahead.

thanks again.

great site.

regards
