Remote reservoirs

Heres a question for guys in the UK.

I have Girling brake and clutch master cylinders fitted which I shall use to pass the car through the SVA. Can anyone reccomend what type of remote reservoirs I should use and what type of caps with fluid level switches I should use?

Paul,

It may be amusing, and as long as its ONLY for SVA.... visit a breakers, and get the remote reservoirs off a Skoda!

They are small, and have a cap with a switch in them.... I did it... worked for me!

Your best bet is an autojumble such as the one at the NEC on the 25/25th. I think early Escort reserviors will fit. I have the black metal Girling ones but the thread is different to the plastic ones and unless you adapt the caps yourself to take the switches, you will pay a fortune for ready made ones. What do you intend using after the SVA?

After SVA I shall change the cylinders to either AP or Tilton. Neither manufacturer currently supply master cylinders with fluid level switches.

Cheers, Paul.

Paul,

The plastic Girling remote resevoirs (bought from Merlin motorsport) I used to have are the same cap as the resevoir on a Lotus Elise, which has the low fluid warning switch.

Try & find one before you buy to be sure but I'm 90% certain. If you want to try it on mine, post me a cap & I'll double check....

Paul,

Honestly I can't remember which Skoda, but I am pretty sure it was an Estelle...
I actually took my master cylinder down with me, and tried a number out...

I followed the same route as you are doing...

Girling set up for SVA, and then replaced with a Tilton Balance Bar system

Regards

Neil
