Audi 016 AFC Code box?

I've got a turbo trans with an AFC code that is mated to my engine. My Audi book has no AFC code. A long time ago I made a transmission spreadsheet which I sent out to Bob and Wayne and some others. Wayne modified it and added stuff to it. Does anyone have a sheet or info on the AFC code tranny?

You posted the AFC ratios earlier...
Where did you get that info?
Last I heard...German Transaxle had (1) AFC left.

Did I? I searched for that but couldn't find it and figured I never did it. I got those ratios from the folks at German Trans and verified it with a Porsche guy who knew them too. Any link?

Re: Audi 016 AFC Code box?

Got it!

So, with a 6500 RPM limit and a 25.64" tire it shows:

Box S/N AFC
Ratio Max Speed
Final 3.89
First 3.60 35.45
Second 1.94 65.79
Third 1.23 103.76
Fourth 0.90 141.81
Fifth 0.72 177.26
RPM for 72 mph 2642.63

So, it is a little bette than the 5N and AAZ for top speed and should make a good track box but not so great for cruise.

For those that are interested the 3.44 R&P really won't help much:

3.60 40.09
1.94 74.39
1.23 117.34
0.90 160.36
0.72 200.45
Cruise 72mph at 2336. But at least it makes it to 200 mph at 6500 rpm!!!!

Now, if we build a motor that can take 7500 RPM the standard AFC box can do:

Final 3.89
First 3.60 40.91
Second 1.94 75.91
Third 1.23 119.73
Fourth 0.90 163.63
Fifth 0.72 204.53

Not bad, might be the way to go.

Re: Audi 016 AFC Code box?

Ron - Some time back I locatred an AFC box at the local wreckers. It was in a 5 cylinder turbo gasoline car. I inquired on the forum as to any info on the ratios but no one seemed to know of this particular one. I seem to remember that you answered my queery at the time and that you emailed the spreadsheet with the known codes and ratios - but no AFC. This is the only reference to this code that I have seen until you put up your post here. I am planning on running this transaxle in my 40 but did not know the ratios. Best regards, Orin Meyer

Re: Audi 016 AFC Code box?

Ron

Did we every hear from Robert what ratio his new 5th was going to be? Just as a thought...rather than import
an entire gearbox from Europe...maybe someone could just
yank 4th and 5th gears from a Q or U code box and ship them over. This way the shipping/import cost would be next
to nothing. If used trans sell for same as over here
($ 200- $ 300), I'd gladly pay that just for the gears.

For comparison..what are 4th and 5th gear ratios
in the Mustang T-5?

Thx
