| Re: IDF Trumpets Ron, As I have said before, we no longer recommend the use of IDFs for several reasons, found through experience on the tracks, and we now use IDAs or FI wherever possible, even though this means lowering the engines etc to do it. Several very real problems are associated with the IDFs, including overfuelling (fuel wash in the bores causing dramatic bore wear and bearing damage ) and fuel stand off ( blow back out of the intake trumpets) Now I am the first to admit to not being an expert in these matters, but experimentation to reduce these problems led me to manufacture and try venturi tube extensions to bring them level with the top of the intake trumpets, as on the IDAs, and this did make a measurable improvement all round, and I would certainly recommend it. There must be several experts on the Forum to explain the technical aspect of this, but all I know is it works. Frank |
