Question What Engine Are You Using?

What engine are you using, or plan to use in your car?

Re: What Engine Are You Using?

I plan to use a 351C 2-V block and heads....(core shift is over and done with)
I'll base the engine on the old 351 HO option available in the late 60's-early 70's Boss or HO Mustangs and Cougars. Relatively low compression-reliability first. I dont even have a kit ordered yet,but I am still gonna get there.

Ls1, Ls2, Ls6 And Ls7

Surely there should a distinction drawn between the old iron smallblock chevy and the gen111 engines?

The majority of you will probably call me a heathen but the gen111 engines seem to me to be the best way to get 400 plus bhp and an aluminium block. The opportunity to save 150lbs over the rear axle is surely also worthy of some consideration!

I do however have to admit that a ford smallblock with webers is pretty sexy beast. Rob the RCR40 is looking good.

Re: What Engine Are You Using?

Thanks Miles.

Roaldin...sweet lookin set up.

Actually, I should really share with everyone an experience that I am in the middle of regarding the induction set up I purchased from Webercarbs.com. As not to steal Ron's string I will start a new one on the subject as soon as issue is resolved with them. The story can go either way at this point.

Re: What Engine Are You Using?

Mine

Dart 302 alum. block punched to 331
Corillo rods DSS custom pistons
Steel crank
AFR 205 Titanium valves and keepers
Custom Cross Ram that I stole from Robert Logan
dyned out at 524BPH
Motec MGT system
ZF transaxle. Only RF with a zf in the USA.The only other one is ross in OZ. again only way to go with high BPH.
Alum block shave's a 100LBS.off compared to Iron block's. Some folks say 50Lbs. Off.. there wrong. I weighed my iron block and it is 102 lbs. more dead weight. Alum. is the only way to go with your 40

Re: What Engine Are You Using?

Bernard -

I have a couple of the RDI 302 Aluminum blocks and what is interesting is (It's been a while since they were cracked open) But I think the valley area is different on my blocks. I think mine looks more conventional 302 style, without the cross rib that yours shows. How old is your block (Allan Root Vintage)?

Both of the blocks I have also has an RDI 'tattoo' on the front.

Sandy

Hi Sandy
I bought this bloc 4 years ago at fair price from a local racing dealer in the States. To be honest, I don't know exactly the right reference (I don't receive back from the dealer any document nor information). We can see in the front a small Ford logo (from casting) and in the starter side, the ref M-6010. However, it looks like extension of ref was milled and it is stamped 302RDI (see pictures). At the bell housing side, there is an other casting number : BBO19276 with a stamped P- below
As I am not a Ford specialist, I don't know if it is an old or recent block generation but according to the dusty layer when I bought it, it was not from the last issue . Any informations are welcome .
