Looking for EFI TB & Manifold Recommendations

Howdy all,

My last thread got me thinking heavily about EFI, only because of meeting my engine's CFM needs.

My questions are: What IDA style EFI & TB setups are you guys using? What do you recommend? And what retailers do you recommend?

I don't need the computer, injectors, fuel system, or any of that stuff.

Thanks,
Chris

Re: Looking for EFI TB & Manifold Recommendations

Chris,
with your heads there is no point going for something super exotic ( and expensive ) like a Kinsler. Think allong the lines of a TWM set up. They are easy to port match, they have a trick, hidden vacuum plenum built under the manifold for running MAP sensors, IAC if you want and brake boosters etc.
Their standard Weber look TBs come in 48 and 50 mm but I have asked them if their big block 58mm TB will fit a 351 manifold, don't see why not, will know by monday. The 50mm will get you over 500 HP, don't forget, no chokes, no booster venturis etc to get in the way, super quality too.

Re: Looking for EFI TB & Manifold Recommendations

Thanks Mike,
That TWM kit is pretty hot. I couldn't find an exact price but it looks to be about $4,000 USD? That's not much less than my quote of $4,600 from Kinsler. Hmmm- good to have some options.

What do you have against my heads?

Chris

Re: Looking for EFI TB & Manifold Recommendations

Search a bit, this has all been discussed before I'm sure.

Anyways, my experience is with DC&O inlet setup on my 302W (347 stroker). Works well, but you need to add a progressive throttle cam linkage to make it more driveable. They have a 50 mm bore and my motor spins to my self imposed 7000 RPM limit with the power still climbing (380 RWHP). Only trick is they are not a weber pattern (both bore spacing and bolt holes), so getting effective air filtration means customising.

In the states verycoolparts.com sell DC&O stuff. However given the rise of the Aussie dollar they may not be as cheap for you lot as they used to be. Nice change for us in Oz.

Can't imagine why you'd go near webers unless for absolute authenticity. Look good, sure, but with EFI mine will pull from idle to redline without any issues and that's with a solid roller cam that's a little bigger than what you have listed and only 10.5 compression.

Happy shopping - any IR setup is gonna hurt the wallet!
