Dipstick location

Is it ok to leave the oil dipstick in the timing chain cover on my 289 or will it be impossible to reach once it it jammed up against the firewall?

Re: Dipstick location

I decided to remove and plug the dipstick tube in the timing cover. It looks like the one in the oil pan is in a better location.

Re: Dipstick location

Hi Shawn, yep I've got an Aviad GT40 sump with the dip stick front right in the sump and the position worked out great.
Cheers

Re: Dipstick location

Thanks Roger! I will be using a Aviad pan so that seals my choice to plug the hole in the timing chain cover.
