New GT prices??

I attended a Mustang shindig here in Dallas yesterday... while visiting with an SVT sales specialist, I enquired about the availability of a new GT and the pricing... He claimed his dealership (group of 3 separate Ford stores) was scheduled to get three new GTs... he also said if the dealer principal didn't elect to keep all three for his private collection, the price would likely be inthe 500,000.00 range.... I told him I'd have to wait for the second or third production run... maybe the price will get back down around the projected msrp of 140,000.00 or so... even at that, it would be quite a stretch for me to justify the cost of ownership.
Has anyone else heard anything on pricing?

bwah ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!

three cars at a half-mil a pop?

was he sharing the dope?

there are a ton of threads here on pricing. of the (very few) that have pre-sold on ebay, the scalpers are getting about $40K to $50K over MSRP.

i can imagine that a tiny (tiny) handful have gone already for really stupid money like $100K to $200K over.

the charity car was the highest i've heard, and that buyer is writing off a huge chunk of that as charitable donation, so the raw dollars are inflated.

doody.

Re: New GT prices??

As if there is any wonder why auto dealers are held in such low esteem, this guy proves the point. Here's hoping his allocation doesn't move and that his $1.5M "investment" depreciates like a lime-green Taurus wagon without air conditioning.

Re: New GT prices??

Yea, that's just insane... the damn dealer pricipal over there probably doesn't know the difference in a Mustang "GT" and the Ford "GT"... just knows there will be high demand from wealthy entusiasts... I figure these will follow a course similar to the early Vipers... the first few will go for a bunch, then once reality sets in, things will get a little more realistic...
