Hmmmm $40 million, I wonder if I gave them a ring would they consider me?
Is there an age limit on F1 drivers?

Re: F1 2007

Spyker F1 ? forget it. Apparently the parent company cannot keep up with life in the very fast lane. They've sold out and it will be renamed Team India. And here's another revelation : Ralf 'Gupta' Shumacher will be driving for them.
Some young Japanese kid from Gp2 will replace Schumacher at Toyota.
Ralf Schumacher has claimed the new owner, Dr. Vijay Mallya, of the jordanmidlandspykerteamindia is his big friend.
After spending some time on his 95m super yacht.......
He would say that wouldn't he.....

Heck, I'd even give them the matching necklace and take them to a romantic restaurant if I thought there was a chance

Pete, yes there is an age limit , and repeatedly you have displayed you are too immature. You'll have to bide your time and push out a few more of those wild jokes.

David,
Thanks for the compliment, I have never aspired to maturity, fact is the only mature thing I need is the wine.

Chrisl, Dinner and a necklace I wish I had thought of that. And all these years I thought the reason I could not attract sponsors was lack of talent.

Re: F1 2007

Panasonic Toyota Racing is pleased to announce the appointment of Frank Dernie as a senior advisor with immediate effect.

The experienced Englishman, who has been involved in Formula 1 for over 30 years, will advise the team on aerodynamic and chassis-related matters, although he will not have a factory-based role and is not expected to attend races frequently.

Dernie will add his considerable expertise to the continuous improvement of this year’s TF107 car, as well as the development of the TF108, under the leadership of Senior General Manager Chassis Pascal Vasselon.

Frank’s appointment at Panasonic Toyota Racing will enable him to continue with other commitments he has away from Formula 1 design.

Executive Vice President Yoshiaki Kinoshita said: “We are delighted to welcome Frank to the team. He has a tremendous amount of experience in Formula 1 and, as we are a relatively young team, this will help us move closer to our goals. We are continually striving to improve and I am sure Frank will make a positive contribution.”

If this proves to be true then Big Ron is doomed.

Glen Garry - EXCLUDE MCLAREN AND DRIVERS2007-09-07 02:13:07The incriminating evidence against McLaren is a series of emails between Fernando Alonso and Pedro de la Rosa making it clear that information originating from Ferrari data was used by McLaren to help the them with their car set up and strategy.

Re: F1 2007

Hot news on the wires:
A McLaren spokeswoman late nally confirmed that key team members are under investigation by authorities in the northern Italian region Modena.
We reported shortly after qualifying at the circuit that police had served boss Ron Dennis and some of his deputies with avviso di garanzias - or formal notices of pending prosecutions - for alleged crimes including sporting fraud, espionage and embezzlement.
"The team was informed on Saturday evening by Modena magistrates that they are involved in an ongoing investigation," the spokeswoman said.
The Italian news agency ANSA added that, alongside McLaren's Dennis, Mike Coughlan, Martin Whitmarsh, Paddy Lowe, Jonathan Neale and Rob Taylor, sacked Ferrari mole Nigel Stepney will also shortly receive his avviso di garanzia.

IMHO: They are all cheats - it's just the extent and the budget that varies.

Vodafone McLaren Mercedes Statement - 9th September 2007

Monza, 9th September 2007

McLaren did receive some contact from the Italian authorities yesterday but was not charged with anything. We strongly suspect that the nature and timing of this wholly unnecessary contact, just before the start of qualifying, was to disrupt our preparation for this important session and Thursday’s World Motor Sport Council hearing.

McLaren is completely confident that were any proceedings of this type ever to be brought we would be completely exonerated.

Re: F1 2007

After the race yesterday, my wife (who sort of follows F1 because I do) remarked that if both Ferrari and McLaren are allegedly now using the same technology, why weren't the Ferraris right up there with the McLarens?

Clever lady your wife.I suppose the reasoning would go something like this, keeping in mind that there is ongoing development in these cars from race to race...

Hypothetical Teams A and B develop their own technology quite separately so each team develops similar advantages but in different areas of the car. Team A however steals Team B's technology and applies it to the Team A car. Now car in Team A has two sets of small advantages instead of one. Team A beats Team B in the next F1 GP race.

Re: F1 2007

Thank you ChrisL for your erudite explanation. I will show it to my wife - saves me the bother of explaining it!

I think it has always been true, Keith, ever since motor racing started over a hundred years ago. However I wouldn't like to comment on the present situation re Ferrari and Mclaren - not before Thursday anyway.

Chris

Re: F1 2007

I noticed big bad Ron shed a tear as Mclaren crossed the line 1st and 2nd on Sunday. A pressure business the espionage business?

Or maybe he just had a bit of grit in his eye?
