I was thinking the same thing but then read that the FIA are going to keep tabs on McLaren to make sure that there aren't any reprisals against their man Alonzo - that doe eyed pr*ck.

If I owned the team he would have the lousiest pit stops ever seen....he would be better of just driving the damned car until it ran out of fuel.

I would love to see Alonzo at Ferrari - they deserve each other.

Think about it a bit. Big Rons team would have drove off into the sunset with all the trophies and nobody would have been any wiser if the original WMSC findings were still the existing punishment. That Ferrari kept pushing and sooner or later the emails between various parties would have become public domain I think the spic was correct to tell Ron what he had. Was it blackmail? If so, what has FA got to gain. He's already leaving the team and doing his garden after Brazil anyway. So long as whippy keeps paying his money should he care?
All this furore will be forgotten by the masses in a few years time and the record books will simply show who was the champion driver and champion manufacturer.
It seldom shows the runners up.
Once again, it's nothing to do with sport and no longer does it have gentlemanly overtones in it's administration.
You either eat at the top table or you are roadkill.

Dont think really a future for Alonso in Williams.
The Company is crap...dunno how long they will remain in this modern Formula one (and thats a shame, cause old Frank is a great too...usually with the funniest staff working with him RIF: Nigel mansell nightmares during Williams pit stops..LOL..).


Alonso with ferrari?..can be can be....the only thing we miss there is sciumy, too great and stupid loss for reds ( he is really enjoying his amily...doesnt really miss formula one Circo barnum..)

Max Mosley said he would have preferred to see Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso kicked out of the 2007 title chase, because their championship win will be tainted anyway.
The FIA president revealed at Spa-Francorchamps that most of the "lawyers" at the World Motor Sport Council hearing, including himself - as distinct from those with purely racing backgrounds - last Thursday wanted McLaren totally excluded from the season, after the team was found guilty of cheating.
"They argued: how can you give the world champion's cup to someone who may have had an unfair advantage over other drivers?" he said on BBC Radio 5 Live's Sportsweek programme.
"There will always be a question mark over it, there has to be, because nobody knows how big an advantage they had from that."
Mosley said British rookie Hamilton will agree that this year's contest has been tainted by the spying affair.
"I think he will probably feel more comfortable if he wins a subsequent championship, which I am sure he will, without any of these question marks," he said.
"That (McLaren) had an advantage is almost beyond dispute."
But Hamilton, after seeing his three point advantage over Alonso whittle down to two points at Spa on Sunday, said he does not agree.
"I don't really have anything to say to or about Max Mosley," said the 22-year-old.
"We've all worked hard this year. The way I feel is that the team has done nothing wrong -- and neither have I.
"I don't see why people should say, if I win, it's a tainted championship."
Hamilton, however, had to admit to underperforming in comparison to Alonso in Belgium and also Monza a week earlier, but suggested that he was perhaps more affected by the espionage scandal than was his teammate.
"I feel more attached to the team, I guess, and I care a bit more," he told reporters.
"I just need to pull my socks up. I think I just need to refocus myself."
Hamilton also said Alonso was making use of his experience in closing down the points deficit in the closing races of a title chase.
"I don't know whether it has caught me out but, for sure, experience is always an advantage," he said.
"But in the last couple of races I haven't been able to really fully fine-tune the car and really feel 100 per cent so when that happens you're bound to lose some time."

F1 : Another dramatic scene to be added to the spygate script

Following more rumours of McLaren holding information that could implicate Renault F1 in another Spygate scenario, Max Mosley admitted that he will be awaiting any information, if it exists, in the near future.

Speaking to the BBC, Mosley said: "We haven't had the complaint or the detail yet, but we have been promised from McLaren more about it. When we get it, we will investigate. We've had a dossier from Renault which doesn't look particularly damning, but then again, you wouldn't expect it to. It's allegedly an employee who took some disks with him, but we must wait and see what comes out from McLaren. I told Ron Dennis, 'When you have got your dossier together, let's have it'. He, with Renault's permission, recently sent experts into Renault to look at their computer systems. Obviously, when he has got that report, if there is anything significant in it, I have no doubt Ron will let us have it."

FIA Appeal dropped:

At the qualifying session of the 2007 Hungarian Grand Prix, the Panel of the Stewards of the meeting found that one of the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes ("McLaren") drivers had obstructed another in the pit lane. A penalty was imposed preventing McLaren from scoring points in the Constructors Championship at that meeting.

McLaren have notified the International Court of Appeal this morning that they wish to withdraw their appeal against the decision of the Stewards

Ron will have so much dirt to dish on Alonso by Brazil.

Regarding Hamilton and his performance of late - I am a little concerned that he may do something to try to "prove" that he is the fastest guy out there and it will result in a bad shunt or something....I remember Gilles' circumstances too well.

I hope you are wrong Pat.

He has withstood immense pressure this year and has not really become ragged while chasing or being chased. You very seldom see him make a mistake. I think he has a talent and a maturity that sees him able to get the best out of the setup that he has to work with at the time. He seems to know the limits of the car, and himself, and doesn't try to exceed them.

I dont think Williams is crap, I fear that they are just a company out of step. They consistently outperform Toyota on about 30% (or less) budget. Toyotas best move would be to do a deal with Frank (like McLaren Mercedes) and shut down their own operation.

Also Rosberg is the dogs nuts IMHO

Actually the phrase is "the dogs bollocks" but I was brought up to be polite. It tends to be used (mostly by the male of the species in male company) as a direct replacement for what you guys call "awesome" (or should that be Ahhsum?).

For the importance of Frank Williams in formula one I think is anyway very important he and his british company will remain active part of that Circus.
It is also true he is passing a very hard time, never Williams was so few competitive as today,exit the top circus and enter maybe Fia GT or other (nicer ) race cathegory will be anyway a step down.
Toyota can be an easy way to have some extra money for some years, but their actual numbers in formula one are only scary ones (and work with japanese is always a mess..)
Previous joint venture with BMW wasnt good, and Munchen people made a self team running honestly really better than Williams.
Mercedes "uses" mclaren cause anyway Ron Dennis always had competitive cars (copying the reds...HA HA), but if the results will be as Williams ones, are u so sure Stuttgard guys will stay there any longer?I think no really..

It is as Kawasaki in Motogp...so many money and resources..so few results.

The wheels are now in motion for the early conclusion of Fernando Alonso's McLaren contract, according to reports.
The German daily 'Bild' on Tuesday said the team's lawyers are now working on ending the deal, after Spaniard Alonso's relationship with McLaren reached a new low following the espionage affair and claims of lying and extortion in Belgium.
"Adios, Alonso!" Bild exclaimed.
The news brings a fresh perspective to team boss Ron Dennis' admission at Spa-Francorchamps that he is seeking "closure" after one of the most difficult seasons in his 40 year career in racing.
"Part of our closure will be to take all the controversy out of the team," the Briton said, adding that any variation to any driver contract for next year would be "by mutual agreement".
It is believed that Alonso will return to Renault, where under the guidance of his mentor Flavio Briatore he secured back to back titles in 2005 and 2006.
The 26-year-old's McLaren contract was to run to the end of 2008 and also included an option for a third year.
