Interesting how history repeats itself in some way:
On that very same track at Ehra-Lessin in 1969 the first Porsche 917 longtails underwent
high-speed testing...on one occasion with disastrous results for the car.

For those that don't live in the UK that clip was part of a program called Top Gear which is a regular BBC broadcast. They deliberately selected James May to drive the car because he is the non speed freak part of the presenters team who professes not enjoy the hooligan end of the motoring spectrum thus proving how easy it is to Drive the Veyron at 250+mph.
