Help required - item collection from Chicago airport

I am hoping that someone can help a friend of mine who passed through Chicago airport yesterday and has left an item of luggage there that needs collection and forwarding (within USA).

Can anyone spare the time to grab an item from the customs guys before they scrap/bin it? There are only a couple of days to do this so please help soon if you can. More than happy to cover any costs involved.
