Countach gearing

I drove my old LP400S countach yesterday and thought of how much I like the gearing, so this morning I got the manual out of the glove box to see what the ratios are. I was surprised as I thought the ring and pinion to be much higher geared than my GT40. My friend has told me the noise of the V8 with 180 headers is deceiving and he is correct but it still messes with my head at 6500 rpm.

At 70-75 mph on the speedo, I am taching 3k rpm which in the lambo sounds slightly above idle.

The rear tire is 24.5 inch diameter.

1st 2.256:1
2sd 1.769:1
3rd 1.310:1
4th .990:1
5th .755:1

ring and pinion 4.080

I have decided to change the 4.22 in my 40 to 3.77.
I will post some pictures this afternoon, we are going for another ride through the Norcal today. :)

Who on earth told you that about 180 headers?

Did the Countach start on the first crank?

We'll be going through Noel on Tuesday. Will you be there?

You did. :)

Yes, after 6 months of sitting it fired right up, as close as I can recall those plugs have been in the car since 92 when you did the conversion to EFI and they have 18k miles on them. Still runs like new.

Yes, we are flying in on Sunday, come on by brother.

I was telling Kathleen about the time you drove this car back to Little Rock and the state police had the road block and was going to arrest you. Thank God the police in that podunk town called them and said " It looked like it could do 150 mph, he wasn't!" We would have found you in a couple days. :)

Wish you and Paulette were here like the old days.
