Finally ticked my top bucket list box and got to drive at the Revival! It was all I'd imagined it to be, what an experience! I was invited to compete in the St. Mary's Trophy (a two part race) so I was paired with Rob Huff who raced on the Saturday and I did my bit on the Sunday. What a lovely chap he was! So down to earth and nice for a super star. He went on to be awarded the driver of the weekend.
Unfortunately we were plagued with an intermittent misfire all weekend which proved unbelievably elusive and consequently both qualified at the back.
The Saturday race was held in torrential rain but to start with the car was working fine and Rob climbed from the back up to 6th in two laps! Sadly the misfire then returned and all credit to him he brought the car in saying 'there's no point in breaking it.'
More feverish work overnight and I lined up on Sunday. Once more the car went like a dream, and I was up to 15th in a couple of laps when it cried enough and melted a piston.
I would have liked to have finished, but I have to say, just being there was amazing. Lining up on the grid in front of all those people and soaking up the atmosphere was incredible.
