Coil packs for Motec?

Hi Folks,

I can't seem to determine if Motec actually makes coil packs from their website. Can anyone comment or let me know what other mfg. you are using and maybe how/where they are mounted in your RF.

Thanks,

Al H.

Al,
The coil packs are provided in the FI option. You get everything needed to install and run. The coil packs are mounted in front of the engine along the lower bulk head cross beam. I'll see if I can find a photo later.

Re: Coil packs for Motec?

Al,

MoTeC do not make mutch except for their EMS and Dashes. The majority of their parts are supplied by outside contractors to their agents for instalation. By this I mean that the MoTeC USA guys would use a MoTeC M800 engine management system with some other manifold and components. MoTeC might supply an unterminated loom because of the EMS conections and posibly the sensors and injectors but even these are unlikely because of supply and cost.

At RF we have our inlet manifolds castings made for us and then we machine and manufacture the shafts, butterflys and all the adjusters and fully assemble. We make the wiring looms from scratch and we make the coil packs from components (backing plates, etc, coil pack, seperate wiring and conectors).

This is very common in the industry in that retail suppliers are in collection point for gathering all the components required to COMPLETE the system and companies like MoTeC are suppliers to that retail outlet.

I hope this explains the sequence of events.

Best wishes,

Robert

Re: Coil packs for Motec?

Hi Robert,

Thanks very much for the info. Every time I asked Hersh a question regarding the FI option (and the answer was always, yep, that's included), it became clearer that there was no way I could possibly source the equivalent (and sorted out) package myself unless I wanted to pay way more for less.

P.S. Great to hear the first cars are close to rolling out of South Africa and congrats to the lucky devils ahead of me!
