Audi Trans

Please help I am getting nowhere fast. I found an 1985 Audi coupe with a 5 cyl engine does this make it a 5000 and is the trans useable? Everything I read says to use an Audi 5000 trans but this car is a coupe. I found on the web a list and from that list I believe that the trans is a 093. Can I use a trans out of a 4000 what is the big difference between the 4000 and the 5000 any light you can shine on this would be greatly appreciated thanks Steve

If you check on ebay then search for "audi trans" you will get a list of parts and trans. communicate with the seller and he should be able to answer your non gt40 questions ( type year model what from etc. ).

Maybe my post want clear enough. I am using this trans in a gt40 but the only Audi 5 speed in the wrecking yard was in a 1985 Audi coupe. Is the Coupe considered a 5000 it has a 5cyl engine. If it is a 4000 can I still use the trans and what is the difference between the 4000 and the 5000 transmissions thanks

early 5000, 4000 and coupe all use the 093, its a weaker tranny. You want an 85 and newer audi 5000 turbo, deisel or gas tranny, they all use the 016, the only difference between the 3 is ratios. If i remember right, in Canada anyways, you can use the audi 200, it is the same car just goes from 89-92 (i think). If you want a picture of the 016, look around on the forum, you will find it.
