Thanks very much Chris.

How can you identify these kind of blocks. I understand they don't have normal casting numbers. Do they have the part number cast into them or something?

The limited information I have would indicate that
the 5 4 bolt main caps together with the siamese
clyinders (no water jackets between bores) and the
dry sump oiling features would make the block a
R351,S351, or R352. The R352 has additional structural
sections at the main cap/journal area as well as journal diameter of 2.248 (as opposed to 2.749 for the other two blocks). The R351/S351 are the same, with exeption to deck height (R351= 9.200 and S351= 9.500).

again I hope this helps.

Thanks again Chris. Am I correct in thinking it is almost impossible to tell what block it is from the outside if the block is in a car? There are no casting numbers to identify them?

Ebay to the rescue?
Found this picture of an S351 block. So do I assume all the FRPP blocks have the part number cast into them in this way?

engine casting

casting date 4th June 2002?
