2008 Cobalt SS TURBOCHARGED!!!!

Brian Hamilton

I'm on the verge of touching myself inappropriatel
I know this prolly should be in the drivetrain section, but what an awesome engine idea for the SL-R!!!

Check it out...

msrp starts at $22,995

FWD nurburgring record, and 13.9 quarter mile.

Imagine that with a turbo upgrade in the back of the SL-R... Awesome!!

Let's see what an actual, operable SL-R does first before getting too excited about the engine possibilities. I know the car looks fantastic (that's one of the reasons I ordered one a few months ago), but nobody has ever driven one that I am aware of.
I can tell you from the pictures that a Honda K20Z3 is a pretty tight fit in the chassis, so a physical sample of a complete engine and trans that you are considering would be best test fitted prior to purchasing an engine swap. The performance numbers do look good though!

My proto has a Cobalt engine installed and was the original engine of choice until GM dropped it as a crate engine.
We have driven the SL-R in full electric trim...it will be seen on the Discovery Channel, CBS and was used as the camera car at the Hagerstown, MD, electric race meet by the Travel channel too...It is a riot.

Can't wait to see the video Fran! Also, glad to hear that my car is on a truck on its way to Florida (as of last Friday). I'm a little nervous as to my mechanical skills required to finish the car, but I'm looking forward to the project. Thanks for the update!
